Latest Updates from Our Project:

Campaign Closed, Count Concerns
about 7 years ago – Mon, Apr 10, 2017 at 12:19:19 AM

Hello everyone!

Thank you again for backing our project!  It's going to be a blast, getting these little Mad Science folk made and set out to you!

There are a couple of things I wanted to mention, then I need to get back to making sure that the BackerKit and Kickstarter surveys are ready.  We're almost there, so you should get emails this week for them.

I previously expressed some concern about the count of leftovers we have from previous campaigns.  We do still have a limit on the older generation Tinker Dice (the D6 and Fudge dice), since those came from a different factory that doesn't really work with us any more, but if we run out of meeples, bags or Gearpunk Beta dice that we have on hand, we'll order more and get them with the Mad Scientists and Tinkerers.  It may mean a slight delay in the overall production, but nothing that should put us off of the June shipping estimate.

So, we're steamrolling ahead!  Again, please answer your surveys sooner rather than later so we can get the production request properly sorted, and we'll let you know when we hear more details on that production.

Thank you all!

Tesh

P.S. We're still planning to make the Sky Pirate, Rocketeer and Dragon designs, though the approach for doing so is still a bit mutable.  We would like to ask your opinion on those, and will be asking for feedback via survey in the coming weeks.  Please feel free to ignore those requests, as they aren't part of this campaign, it's just something that we'd like to sort out so we can do the next generation of Tinker Bits after we get these Mad Science meeples and the Fairies sent out.  We'd love to hear from you, I just wanted to note that it's not necessary in any way for the fulfillment of this project.

Winding Down
about 7 years ago – Sat, Apr 08, 2017 at 01:11:54 AM

Hello everyone!

It's our last day, and since I might wind up busy in the next 48 hours or so (some things seem to be coming to a head, out of my control), I wanted to take a moment now and say again, Thank You all for backing our project!  It's going to be great, getting these little guys made and sent out to all of you!

As a reminder, we'll get the surveys sent out as soon as we can after the project closes.  That will be some time next week, hopefully earlier than later.

Also, we're using BackerKit to help with the Add Ons.  They have a shopping cart-like system, which makes a lot of things a lot easier for you and for us.  It's not necessary, it's just helpful, so if you see an email from them regarding this project, you don't need to deal with it to get your goodies sent to you.  If you do go to BackerKit, though, it's much, much easier to pick up Add On items.  (And if you don't want any Add Ons, again, you can totally ignore the BackerKit email.)

For those of you outside of the U.S., if you're looking at Add On items, please let me know what you have in mind, whether via private message or in the surveys, since shipping can be kind of squirrely, and we might be able to save you a bit on shipping if we can nail down exactly what you want sent to you.

We're also using the BackerKit system for "Preorders" for anyone who misses the campaign and wants to get in on the action after the fact, for about two weeks or so while we wait for funding from Kickstarter to clear through their bookkeeping.

BackerKit Preorders will be at this link, for anyone so interested... so please spread the word!

Also, please keep your eyes open for follow up emails and Updates, since once we start shipping goods your way, we'll want to get the gears turning on the next chapter of the Tinker Bits project, with the Sky Pirate, Rocketeer... and maybe the Dragon and even possibly another fun addition to the family.  Four designs in one project may be a bit much, so we'll be looking for feedback on what makes sense to you all and where we can go together.

Thank you all again!  We'll see you around the bend!

Add On Update
about 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 04, 2017 at 09:59:17 PM

Hello everyone!

I've updated the Add On infographic to include the previous couple of Tinker Bit designs and the Tinker Fairies.  In short, they will be the same prices as seen in their respective campaigns.

We'll be using BackerKit to keep some things clear, with their shopping cart-like system, but if you don't want to use their system for whatever reason, it should still be fairly straightforward.

It does get a little complex with international shipping, so if you want some of the extra goodies sent to you and you're outside of the U.S., please let me know what you have on your mind in a private message, and I'll help sort things out.  This is true whether or not you're using BackerKit, as their system is unfortunately not all that well equipped for international shipping either.

The complexity comes when you pick up more than a couple of things.  We have to add international shipping costs into each Add On, but that can add up fast and not be accurate, usually meaning the system will ask you for too much.  We can find ways to make that more accurately reflect the actual shipping cost.  As such, if you have any questions, please let me know, and we'll sort things out, preferably the sooner the better.

Thank you all!  Please keep spreading the word!

Adding On
about 7 years ago – Mon, Apr 03, 2017 at 03:07:42 PM

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry it's been quiet, I've been dealing with a lot of non-Kickstarter stuff, including a deeply dysfunctional internet connection.  It's still a bit fritzy, but we're doing what we can, and still trying to find new places to tell people about this project.  Please spread the word where you can, if you have a moment!

There have been questions lately about whether or not we'll have the Tinker Fairy Meeples available as Add On items.  Yes, we will.

Also, we have leftovers from the first Tinker Bits Meeple project, and we'll make those available as well.

It should be noted, however, that the Add On system isn't native to Kickstarter.  We'll be using BackerKit to handle the complexity of doing Add On items.  They are a third party website that has an almost "shopping cart"-like system, complete with inventory control, which makes things much easier.

I do need to update the Add On infographic on the main page to reflect our changes, and I'll post again when that is done, but for now, please know that we will make the Tinker Fairy, Top Hat and Dame designs available.

The trick will be noting that there are limited quantities for some of the goodies that we have.

Most notably, we're a bit limited on the old 6-sided metal dice and the leather bags, though we do still have a good stock of them.  We're also limited a bit on the Gearpunk Beta dice, but we can order a new production run with this project's meeples, so this is more about noting that it simply might delay the overall production run another day or two.

BackerKit lets us sort that without much fuss, but there's no good way to list limited stock numbers via Kickstarter.  It's first-come, first-serve on BackerKit, so please make sure that if you're interested, you get into the system sooner rather than later.  The quantities should be fine, if the last project is any indication, but if it's a concern for you, get involved early.  The BackerKit phase happens after this campaign finishes.

If, for any reason, you wind up running into a limit on items that you are interested in, please let me know and we'll sort something out.  I don't anticipate this happening, but I wanted to let you know that it's possible and that we will work with you where needed.

I'll get that infographic up in the next day or two.

Thank you all!

Crossing the Streams: Tinker Fairies
about 7 years ago – Sun, Mar 26, 2017 at 08:23:30 PM

Hello everyone!

As noted last time, we have the opportunity to make some Tinker Fairy meeples as well as these little fellows, and the latest update for that campaign may be of some interest to you all:

Tinker Fairies: Stretching our Wings and Crossing the Streams

The short version is that we hope to finish strong with that campaign, and part of that is reminding everyone that if you back both projects and are willing to delay the Fairy delivery so they can be sent with these Mad Science meeples, we'll send you an extra Tinker Fairy.

It won't derail the fulfillment on this campaign, as we'll be ordering those Fairies and have them in hand for you (or sent out) before we start working on shipping for this campaign.  It was just a great opportunity to leverage the Kickstarter March promotion for one-week campaigns.

As for what is happening here, thank you all for your support!  It's great to see so many people interested in the Mad Science meeples!  We're looking forward to getting them made and sent out to all of you.

Thank you!
