Hello everyone!

Thank you all very much for the great start to this campaign!  It's going to be great to get these little folk made and sent out to everyone.  There's something deeply satisfying in seeing whimsical dreams made real.

Speaking of whimsy, though, we've been thinking of doing a set of metal Fairy meeples, too.  Carcassonne uses a Fairy character in one of its expansions, so it made some sense to make such a critter, though of course, I had to improve the design a bit.

The big question I have now is... what to do with these?

Kickstarter has approved a short one-week standalone campaign that I could run for them, offering a single pledge tier, to tap into their March promotion of "All in 1".  That would be $10 for 3 random-but-guaranteed-different-color Fairies.  This would allow us to tap into their promotion, and also, to tap into any interest generated as we display the prototypes at the Salt Lake Comic Con FanX event this weekend.  Also, anyone backing this and that campaign would get an extra fairy, and we'd send the goods from both projects all together.

On the other hand, we could wait on the Fairies and run a Fairy-and-Dragon campaign after this one concludes.

Then again, we could roll the Fairy into this campaign as a stretch goal, and roll the Dragon into the also-pending Sky Pirate-and-Rocketeer meeple campaign as a stretch goal there.

There are options, and while I'm leaning to the first, mostly to tap into the Kickstarter promotion, I'd like to know what you all think.  It makes things a little more complicated, to be sure, but it wouldn't significantly impact fulfillment, as I'd handle all the organization while we're waiting on production.

It would also be worth noting that running the Fairy one-week campaign could also allow making them available as an Add On in this campaign afterwards in BackerKit, if you wanted all 8 colors.  That would be true if they were a stretch goal here, too, so either of those options work if you're interested in getting the full spectrum of Fairies.

Then again, we could make the single tier of the standalone campaign into a full spectrum 8-colors-for-$22 tier to simplify, at the cost of a bigger price.

What do you all think?

Thank you!

Tinker Fairy Campaign now Live!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Mar 22, 2017 at 02:19:23 AM

Hello everyone!

Thank you for your consideration and support!  We just launched the Tinker Bits: Steampunk Metal Fairy Meeples campaign, which will run for a week, then be done.  It's a bit of a stunt, as it were, to see if Kickstarter's promotional muscle can help us get more done.

If you back this campaign and that campaign, we'll send you an extra Tinker Fairy and everything from the two campaigns all together.

I know, it's a little kludgy, but it's a great opportunity to get them out into your hands sooner rather than in a later campaign!

This will not delay fulfillment of this campaign, it is just a curious little side project to keep things rolling.  Also, we will make these little fairies available in BackerKit at the end of this campaign as well, at the same prices, so if you want them, you can pick them up either way.  Since it's a short campaign, it also won't be a significant interference with this campaign itself beyond this plug and maybe another mention next week.

Thank you!

Mad Science Meeples, coming in June!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 16, 2017 at 08:40:41 PM

Hello everyone!

Thank you for your support!  The Mad Science Metal Meeples will be funded and made, so now it's a question of how many we get to make and where we get to send them!  We're always happy to get our projects out to everyone.  It's fun, making the world a little more exciting here and there.

For the record, we're also thinking about making these little guys, whether here or as another campaign.  They don't fill quite the same gaming niche as the "humanoid" meeples, so the rewards structures would be different if they get their own campaign, but we'd like to offer them anyway.  If that's something that you have an opinion on, we'd love to hear it!  We had planned to run them as a concurrent campaign for the Kickstarter March "All in 1" promotion thing, but they don't like concurrent campaigns.

Thank you again!
